The Killers
Human
When the call came down the line
Up to the platform of surrender
I was brought but I was kind
This was the kind of thing that I would regularly share with my father and one of the many many reasons that I miss him so much. I never got to show him this, and maybe he had seen or heard it already, but I have no doubt that he would have loved it. Music was one his many passions and Jazz was his thing. I never really got the Jazz scene myself finding it slightly self-indulgent but he admired and respected the musicians and the mastery that they achieved over their instruments and I could relate to and understand that. Wynton Marsalis on trumpet, Richard Galliano on accordion and Walter Blanding on tenor sax are true masters of their craft and you would be hard-pressed to find a better example than this live recording from 2008 of the Edith Piaf classic La Vie En Rose. I can’t think of a better way to spend seven minutes today than to listen to this, I only wish that I got to share it with you. For Dad.
